Research & Acquisition
New clients and new sites:
When we meet with you we will discuss possible domain name options based on your business and goals. Once research is started it’s best to immediately register the domain name(s) you want so someone else doesn’t snatch them up to sell to you at a higher price.
Domain Name Management Services: Simple domain name purchases through FascinationDesign.com are $25/year per domain name (.com, .org, .net, .biz.) This takes out the hassle for you of figuring out the registration process since most registrars will try and sell you additional services you don’t need.
Things not to do prior to purchasing your domain name:
- Do NOT post a link to a domain name you have not purchased yet on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or other website.
- Do NOT print a website address on your business cards, brochures etc.
- Do NOT start telling people where you want to have your site.
Even if you think “but this is my name and it’s really unique, no one else will want it.” You are correct but someone knows YOU want it and would be willing to pay more for the domain name than a simple registration fee. I had a client do this once and ended up paying $200 to get their domain name back.
Existing domain names:
Need to know if a company trying to sell you a domain name is legit?
Need to know if the domain name they are trying to sell you is really worth what they are asking? Or maybe there’s a similar domain name still available that you would be better off buying instead.
Recently a client of mine was approached by a company trying to sell them LexingtonAcupuncture dot com. The domain name had been purchased the month they were trying to sell it so there was no history associated with it and we were able to purchase Lexington-Acupuncture.com with a dash and saved them over $400.
Or maybe you want a domain name that someone else owns but clearly isn’t using. We can help you contact the domain name owner to see if we can negotiate a sale.
OR you own a domain name and someone has approached you to buy it but you don’t know where to start in that process! The value of an object is only that which someone is willing to pay for it. The most expensive domain name ever sold was for $13,000,000! We can research the fair market value of a domain name based on factors such as: age, traffic, page rank, keywords, extension and more. We can also act as a broker between you and the buyer.
Domain Recovery
One unfortunate situation I’ve seen a few too many times is when a client no longer has access to the account information for their domain name. Maybe they no longer use the e-mail address used to register the site. Their credit card originally used to register is expired and unless they get the login information, their domain name will expire.
Or worse, they had their previous designer, hosting company, or a friend register the domain name and they can no longer get a hold of that person for one reason or another. We can help you find information and fill out the proper forms to give you a better chance of not losing your domain name or returning it to you, the rightful owner.
